ELL Volunteer Tutor Orientation Part 2 (Virtual)

  • Nashville Adult Literacy Council 4805 Park Avenue Nashville, TN, 37209 United States (map)

Do you want to help an immigrant learn English? Are you interested in building cross-cultural relationships? We have a great volunteer opportunity just for you!

Our ELL volunteer tutors are matched with a student learning English based on availability, interests, and preferences including gender, skill-level, and more. Tutors will meet with a learner on Zoom (online-only tutor) or in-person at an agreed upon public location and on Zoom when needed (hybrid tutor). All trainings and meetings with NALC will take place on Zoom. After training you will indicate if you would like to be an online-only or hybrid tutor. Tutors use an online English curriculum and learning management system, Burlington English, provided by NALC, to deliver high quality English lessons to learners. Other supplemental materials may be used.

Our November session for the Part 2 of Tutor Training (Burlington English) is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm via Zoom. You must have completed Part 1 of the Tutor Training (NALC Orientation) within the past 3 months to be eligible to attend Part 2.

Potential volunteers must attend two Zoom trainings (first an orientation training, then a Burlington English training) led by NALC staff before being matched with a learner. Training is provided via Zoom only: in-person training is not available.
